Yesterday Ms. Goldsworthy's Grade 1 class spoke to another class, asking questions about that classes community, and answering questions about St. John's. However, this was no in-person discussion, instead the Grade 1 class used Skype to talk to a class in Point Hardy B.C . 5212km away! They spent 28 minutes asking them such important questions as: - What kind of wild animals do you have in your community? (bears and orca whales)
- What do you do for fun? (DS was a very common method of fun)
- How do you get off your island? (4 hours, but only if your mom drives slow!)
And a number of other questions. The class was taking part in a challenge called "Around the world with 80 schools" . Hopefully during the rest of the year students will be able to communicate with others schools around the world to further understand the similarities and difference between us. |

This St. Patrick's Day a Leprechaun named Lucky has struck, causing damage and minor mischief to both Ms. Keough's, and Ms. Brockway's kindergarten classrooms. Despite an amazing number and variety of Leprechaun traps at Roncalli school the leprechaun was able to sneak in, cause a huge mess, and spring every trap that was left by students and amateur leprechaun hunters. This is the second year in a row that a leprechaun has been on school grounds during St. Patrick's Day. Last year, despite a concerted effort by the police force, the leprechaun still managed to escape. Please keep your eyes open for any other green tinted mischief and contact the school if you should see a leprechaun around the building. |
